Death sentence for the spies?!?

I just saw in the news that they’re considering the death sentence for the spies who gave over info to Iran
Maybe it’s just me but I feel like it’s a little too harsh, no? I mean a lifetime in prison I understand but to kill them?!

My only question is why they don't give a death sentence to every terrorist. Instead they put them in prison only to be exchanged for hostages.

IMHO, a death sentence is less harsh then rotting in prison for the rest of their lives.

Those prisons isn't that much rotting. They'll get fed, get medical care, can even get a degree while there.
I don't understand how Jews could do it. Azeri Jews are traditional, not assimilated, probably not liberal.

The US has not fought a war on its own land for almost 200 years. I don't think you understand just how serious the charge "spying for the enemy during war time" is.

Even if they are Jewish, even if they are "frum", anyone who spies for Iran during a time of war is a rodef who should be put to death.
