You're not the only ones. It's a litvish minhag.

Not only litvish. There are chasidem who do. Therefore in mixed chasidush communities you will see everything from nothing in succa. Only Kiddush to whole meal
Chasidush whole meal in succa

Litvish.
We fully eat in the sukka, men don't eat out of the sukka at all, like Sukkos.
Weather permitting, we even sleep in the sukka
Only thing we don't do is make a Bracha.

I asked (chasidush) hubby where minhag comes from.
His response: halacha in shulchan orech!!!
He did go into several reasons why the people who don't eat in succa on shmini atzeres do as they do but he wanted me to hear clearly halacha v. Minhag

Its not a Litvish minhag. Its the actual halacha.
Its a Chasidish minhag to not eat in the sukkah.

We are similar and only make kiddush and “say goodbye” to the sukkah Shemini Atzeres day; the night before we eat indoors. AFAIK only litvish and Chabad eat full meals in the sukkah Shemini Atzeres.

I don't know if "litvish" and "minhag" belong in the same sentence, lol.
