This is so stressful! He's been walking for almost 2 months already but still constant boo-boos. He always seems to bounce back but I'm getting worried that one of these days he'll bash his brains in for real. We already had one episode that sent us to urgent care and one that possibly should have.

He's pretty coordinated overall so I don't think this is a physical therapy type issue. We even have a very experienced pediatric physical therapist friend who's been to us for a couple of shabbos meals and always remarks on how well he's developing. I think it's just a stage of life that my nerves can't handle.

I want to wrap him in bubble wrap for the next few years. Help!

I don't know if this is helpful but had a toddler son like this and it turns out he needed glasses, desperately. Once he got the right prescription things improved dramatically.

Oh wow I didn't even think of that! I still think he's just wild and reckless but I should check just in case. As far as I can tell he sees fine because he can pick up tiny objects, find things he likes, can spot someone taking out junk food a mile away... It seems more like a balance issue if anything but maybe you never know.

Get his ears checked, he might have fluid in his ears.
And I second getting his eyes checked out.

He was at Dr recently and ears were clear. It's unnerving. Will have to check eyes just in case but it really doesn't seem like it

I second the above and double check that his shoes truly fit.

Eyes eyes and eyes!!!

DD was falling after she learnt to walk but thought it's normal, than once she had shoes we thought her shoes weren't comfortable, than we thought it was because we moved houses and the flooring type was different (each time it did improve after a bit as she learnt to adjust)
We were by the Dr for an ear infection and he asked us general questions, I mentioned she still falls a bit, he sent her for an eye check, she was +4 in each eye, she has had glasses since the age of 2, now she is 7 and it's slowly going down in number bH!

Do you need a specialist for this since these kids are too young to read an eye chart? Anyone have a recommendation - I'm in Far Rockaway but can travel.

No, my not yet 2.5 year old just got glasses prescribed by our regular Optometrist.

I was going to say what everyone else said. Check his eyesight and his ears.

My DD had a balance issue
I took her to,
a foot Dr.
a Bone Dr.
a rheumatologist
A few more Dr. we got special shoes we took her swimming and a few more things to improve her balance.

When she was in 4th grade we got her a MP3 and she complained that one of the ear buds did not work so we got her new better ones and same problem plus when she switched the ear buds they never worked on her left ear. I took her to an Audiologist and she had very little hearing in her left ear.

Even if his ears are clear it might still be the ears.

No, now days they have machines that check the eyes with no interaction from the child.
If your child is old enough, warn them that they will be putting drops in there eyes. These drops can make them very disorientated especially outside in sunlight.

If you have other kids book them in for an appointment also. If your child dies need glasses they will recommend all your kids to be checked from 6 months as with the technology now a days they see it usually (not always) runs in the family.
