Perel. Saying this as someone who has Pearl on my birth certificate.

It's fine, but it's not what I'm called ever and I wish I just had one name.

It's not so hard to pronounce Perel (ok maybe the stress will be put on the wrong syllable but it's still recognizable)

Whichever one you do add the initial P as a middle name so the other can be covered ( like from any other documentation you may use in future . I do that for all my kids EX Yosef J —— so if he ever decides to use a secular name in business / college like joe or Joseph it’s on his legal papers already

Thanks!

Anyone else with an opinion on either spelling?

I agree with spelling the name the way you intend on calling her.

What about a nickname? (Not for birth certificate) would you spell Pearlie, Pearly or Pearli?

I spelled it Pearl and very happy I did. It’s way safer when it comes to pronunciations.

I davka like that my name is pronounced slightly different in English. Jews figure out how to pronounce it right, and it clues me off if someone doesn't know who I am like a telemarketer and alternatively create some space at work or in other secular settings. (Like nobody ever called me by my real first name at work because the name they use doesn't have the same emotional power.)
