IF YOU RECENTLY BUILT A HOUSE IN LAKEWOOD NJ OR IN THE TRISTATE AREA CAN YOU PLEASE SPECIFY HOW MUCH IT COSTED YOU OR IS COSTING YOU - I AM NOT LOOKING AT THE LOT BUT ONLY THE BUILDING ITSELF AND OBVIOUSLY ALL COSTS ASSOCIATED WTIH IT,

THANK YOU

In case you didn't know, typing in ALL CAPS online does not mean THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE SO YOU SHOULD READ IT. It means you're SHOUTING. NOBODY LIKES BEING SHOUTED AT.

It's also--counterintuitively--harder to read than normal lower-case with occasional capitals following standard grammatical rules.

sorry about that -

I guess next time I will write in lower case -

Either way if someone can reply it would be a help.... so we can plan accordingly and know if we are in a position to build.

I heard it may cost 2 million dollars just to build - is that accurate?

We built very recently. The builder told us it would be 550k with no upgrades. It ended up being at least 800k with no upgrades, and we upgraded about another 100k

For 4000 sq ft. That sounds so low. I heard that price for 2000 sq ft.

I seriously would love to know who your builder is…

It does depend on upgrades. I heard it’s between 250 - 500 per sq ft. So can be 1-2 million

We were very very unhappy with the customer service every step of the way. I don't feel comfortable recommending them.

I appreciate all replies,

Just want to clarify - for whoever stated 1 million - is that for a 4k sq footage house or more?

Also, have you built recently?

Does that include all finishing touches etc?

I built a house before covid and not in Lakewood. my house is approx 3800 plus a full finished basement. My husband used to work in the construction filed and all his besties are builders so this is something we are often discussing. The only way to get real numbers is meet with builders (and add on lots of $ for thigs that aren't included, appliances, lighting fixtures.. )and speak to houses they just completed. There are so many things that can vary and depends what type of construction you are interested in. Are you looking for the cheapest you can find? that is prob not quality work. Good luck!

Dh is in the line (in tri-state, not lakewood)
The prices start at $250 a square foot. Which would make it $1,000,000 to start.

At least your username makes sense now lol

I was reading your OP thinking why are you yelling?

Anyone else get actual headaches from reading someone shouting at them 😂

If you’re building from scratch, consider building a basement apartment to rent out

Could help cover cost of mortgage
