I get so self conscious and feel shame when these otherwise (aside from their pregnant belly) thin women shop in the plus sized Jewish stores. I know it’s MY issue, but I wanted to share.

How does that even work? They don’t fit in plus size just because they have a pregnant belly. I never see this in my area. How many do you actually see?

Yes this doesn't work for me, I have sisters that are plus size and I can't take their clothing as maternity. Believe me I've tried

That is very strange because pregnancy doesn't mean plus all over.
Maternity skirts are made in a specific way to accommodate the belly as it enlarges.

I've seen this to. It's because the plus size stuff in the plus size stores aren't necessarily "plus sized." They just carry larger sizes which the regular frum stores don't really. So maybe these ppl are getting the 0x which is what? The equivalent of a 10-12?

Interesting.
I'm a tall l. Sometimes, I might shop at a plus section.... When I'm pregnant I get huge. I would never step in a plus size shop. It simply doesn't fit right.

Can you tel how fat someone was before they were pregnant?
I’m not plus sized, but definitely have some areas that are harder to fit. When pregnant, I would much rather plus sized stores which have normal looking clothes vs maternity which is more expensive and ‘shows’ the stomach more.

Local stores, the maternity stores are cheaper than the plus size stores. It's one reason I look forward to being pregnant. I'm a size 22. Significantly cheaper. I bought gorgeous top in bp last week $220!

Well, it’s the same thing the other way around.
Plus size women shop at maternity stores sometimes because the clothing fits and is nice.
I have a friend who buys all her clothing in upper class maternity shops and her youngest child is a teenager.

I had the opposite. I was at the maternity store and a lady I know who’s in her mid 40s walked in, I nearly flipped. Turns out she always wears maternity skirts…

Yes, I know it works the other way around. That’s because before frum companies were making plus sized tznius clothing, we had to resort to wearing maternity clothes even if we weren’t pregnant. (Uncomfortable)
I think if you’re not plus sized, you won’t get why this feels different?

Just to give you a little perspective. I've been carrying a "pregnant belly" but been thin EVERYWHERE ELSE since having my first kid. (Seriously. It's at the point where I don't want to go to schul because someone will say "bshaa tova")
Some of my friends with major fertility issues also wound up with a pregnant look - and they feel horrible when they hear a "bshaa tova!" The woman you see may not actually be pregnant. And she may not feel emotionally up to dealing with a maternity section because she's actually got infertility issues or something else like that.

Didn’t think of this.
Ppl I know well and don’t know well congratulate me all the time. My baby is 6….
But I don’t look 6 months pregnant (I carried huge). More like a round 4 months.

I never lost the baby weight with my first, my whole body proportions changed and I am way bigger than I used to be. Maybe I’m not officially plus-sized but I don’t consistently fit well into regular maternity clothes.
