Does it make sense to call a travel agent for Domestic flights (NY to FL)?
Im so confused from the online website (pricing, carry on fees, return flight times etc)

Do they charge an extra fee? Can they find better/other deals, than what is available to the public on the internet?

My son has to fly for yeshiva. I once called an agent and they told me for domestic/direct flights they probably couldn't find anything better than I could find online.

That said, now when I look for his flights to and from yeshiva I check both the airlines webpage and discount flight websites. Sometimes the airlines directly are cheaper, sometimes one discount website is better, and sometimes a different one has better deals.

Thanks!
I ended up calling Lalechet tours, and they booked my flight in minutes! For way cheaper than what I saw online
No additional fee!

Bumping because I need help with a domestic flight but Lalechet doesn’t look like a travel agent to me- is it something they do regularly or was it a one time favor type of thing for you?

It's YT season. The travel agencies are probably overwhelmed now. Domestic travel is low on their priority list.

Perhaps I can guide you?

Thanks. Do you think there will be a huge difference booking a domestic flight in mid December vs waiting a few weeks? I am nervous to book now n case something changes but don’t want to end up paying double… I find it so much easier to have a travel agent to call in case there’s a problem.

I always book last minute for domestic, it's not more expensive.

It really depends when in December. If youre booking anytime between Dec 19 and about Jan 5th you should book ahead. Otherwise I think you can wait. Its not a guarantee, but generally prices are in the same range. Alternatively, if you are uncomfortable waiting you can book Allianz travel insurance, cancel anytime. They will refund you 100 percent for a medical emergency and 80 percent for any reason. (this will also cover baggage and medical)
