I want to upgrade to 48" from my measly twin size 39".
Questions:
Where can I order online with mattresses included if possible? If in Brooklyn where can I get beds with mattresses included in the price?
Where can I find 48" duvet insert?
How much should I expect to spend? I'm really not looking for trendy styles, I care more about comfort.

If you can fit 54 and get a smaller nightstand- it’s way simpler and much more

I will try to answer your questions. I’m not from Brooklyn.
48” is a Jewish size. Meaning only from stores carry it.
Most frum furniture stores that sell beds also sell mattresses.
There is no 48” duvet. You use either a twin which is a bit small when you make the bed or a full which is a bit big. The frum linen brands usually sell 48” fitted sheets with either twin or full.
I haven’t purchased recently so I don’t know about pricing.

Taurus furniture in Brooklyn sells 48 inch for decent prices not sure how much.
Any Jewish linen place ie aura and Belle or ben barber will have sheets for you

If you have the space I would definitely go for a 54" over a 48". So much easier to buy linen since that's a universal size while the 48" is only a Jewish size.
Those extra 6" also make it so much roomier.

The 48” linen sets are usually sold as 48”/full which is a full duvet cover and 48” fitted sheets (no flat sheets in the Frum stores, unless maybe custom etc. - I don’t see the point in flat sheets so makes sense to me) and then usually 2 pillowcases/shams but sometimes 4. (They are usually sold per bed or in sets of 2 beds)
The size was created due to Tamara’s Hamishpacha and times of Niddah where many sleep in separate beds so 2 Full or Queen would be too tight to squeeze into a room but we don’t want to have to squish onto a 39” in times that are not Niddah. Hence the beds are only available in Frum stores.
