Hi if you go to interview for job, do they usually hire you on spot and if not does that mean usually you dont get the job?

You know what depends most companies will call you back for an interview or to tell you that they got it. I happen to have gotten hired on the spot but it was like 7 years ago so is a kind of a different world

This really depends on the job/industry.

Some hire on the spot. Some say 'we'll be in touch' and call you one or two days later to let you know if you're hired. Some don't give you any clue what they're thinking and let you know two weeks later. And some jobs have multiple rounds of interviews and potentially some kind of trial period/ trial assignment.

Only once was I hired on the spot. It's not very common.

I think "hire on the spot" tends to be reserved for minimum wage jobs or situations where a company is truly desperate.
Many companies often conduct interviews before checking references.

so how much time is normal response time?

went to interveiw today and they told me that they will be in touch with me in the next few days.
a few hours later they told recruiter im working with that they liked my impression but also reviewing other candidates so will have an update next week.

what does this sound like?

I was hired on the spot, it was a 1 other person type of office, so he was basically like when can you start. I told him a salary I wanted, he agreed on the spot and that was that.( I work part time in a small office)
The other jobs I had previously I heard back in a day or 2.

Depends on location, culture, and type of company but generally not. They will usually get back to you through a follow-up email.

For my most recent job, I went on an interview and they told me they would follow up in a few days. I emailed them after a few days and they said they didn't reach a decision yet...a few days later I received an email that they chose someone else.
I was kinda disappointed since it was a good location and hours...
Fast forward a few weeks I received a phone call and it was from the same interviewer, asking if I still wanted the job... Smile

Btw the way most interviews end is that they are still interviewing other candidates and will get back to you..

Yeah, I think being hired on the spot isn't a bad sign, exactly, but a company taking its time is a good sign. It's frustrating as the candidate but it means it's a desirable job, it means they take their processes seriously and take the time to do things right. All good things once you have the job.

I've been hired on the spot a couple of times (post-entry-level), and while I loved both jobs, and my bosses were great, that spur-of-the-moment energy has downsides. Great places to work but with the occasional "oh and by the way there's a major project I forgot to mention, it's due yesterday."
