The ones I'm trying are either rotten or unripe. TIA!

I think it's not the season. You'll be able to get red juicy ones in December

I don't know if there is a Trader Joe near you but the one near me (uws) has gorgeous ones.
Update: I was told Lakewood/Jackson has a TJ. Maybe call them and ask if they have pomegranates. If they do, see if they will hold some for you at the desk bc I bet they will run out.

It’s a problem bec it’s not the season. I buy a few and hope for the best.
Or you can buy the loose seeds but might not taste great but will at least look nice.

It's impossible to know how the pomegranate is by looking at it. One of those fruits you need to say tehilim when you shop.

Pomegranates need to be open at the top in order for it to be ripe. Also throw it up the heavier it is the juicer it is

Update. The TJ ones were delicious. Among the best I have ever had. If they're not in season, maybe the ones they sold were imported.

FYI: the pale seeds are sweeter than the dark seeds!

I’m only seeing this now so I’m a little late but hopefully it’ll help u for next time. I got delicious pomegranates for rH and I’ve gotten for pesach as well u just have to know how to pick them. sometimes the outside looks ugly it can still b delicious inside. the way to tell if it’s ripe squeeze the fruit. if the seeds crush inside it’s ready. if they are hard and unyielding it’s not ready yet. I’ve had before tht it felt somewhere in btwn and none in the store felt ripe so I bought the in btwn feeling ones anyway and left out for a few days until it felt more ready and was delicious then as well. I don’t rem where or when I learnt this but its been a game changer for me. try it and let me know if it works for u!

Do you know where they’re imported from?

They're all eaten so I don't have the labels anymore. Probably you could call Trader Joe and ask them. But they were gorgeous and really delicious.
