My (12 year old) daughter wants me to buy Hidden by Rochel Istrin because she enjoyed her other books about The Captives. Has anyone read it? Is it good? More importantly - is it scary for young teens? Is it very graphic about the holocaust and Nazis etc.? Thank you!

I read it a while ago so my memory isn’t perfect, didn’t find it very graphic but I skipped a bunch of the middle because it went on too long didn’t hold my attention.

Thank you. Anyone with a more recent memory? I find we tend to forget details when we haven't read a book in a while.

I just read it and absolutely loved it. It definitely is somewhat scary and Holocaust feel.

I think a 12 yo could read it. There's no concentration camp component, and there's violence in The Captives that she seemed to be ok with.
Hidden is an excellent book, one I've actually re-read which I can't say about most frum fiction. And I don't generally like historical fiction, and I don't generally go for Holocaust based books either (I overdid it as a kid).

Definitely should be fine. No graphic concentration camp scenes. One of my favorite books. Also I have a 12 year old who won’t touch any other Holocaust book but loved this book.

I don't like holocaust books but I did like hidden.
Very well written (I enjoyed the captive series too)
Iirc the scariest part was that they were hiding and afraid they'd be found. No concentration camp stuff that I remember.

I've read it and loved it. Yes, there are some scarier and sadder chapters, because it is a novel set in the times of the Holocaust, but nothing I found too graphic.
Highly recommend.
There is a bit of a romantic piece though- I'd think more about that than the Holocaust concern.
