Someone told me that shoprite brand - bowl and basket ice cream is Chalav Yisrael even though it has a D.
Has anyone heard about this?

Why would it be? And if it isn't labeled cy then the logical conclusion is that it isn't.

I haven't heard that, but it should be easy enough to verify with the Star K.

It's certified under Star D which only certifies chalav stam. You could certainly contact star k and ask, but it would be strange they they wouldn't certify it under star k d if it was.

I took one for the team and called the Star K.
Star K = chalav yisrael.
Star D - chalav stam.
Bowl and Basket ice cream is Star D. It's CS.

Wow, that was really nice of you. That big D with a star in the middle is a division of star-k? I didn't realize that.
I'm not sure why it would be but just repeating what someone told me. Thanks for your help!

Correct. Star K is both the star k and the star D (big D with a star in the middle).
