What are the origins of this name? Is it short for another Hebrew name?(not Elizabeth). Would love any context

Zisi is a diminutive of Zisel which is a derivative of Zis which is Yiddish for sweet.

ETA- I wouldn't say that it's a precise translation of Naomi which means pleasant.

I believe Zisel for a man is a derivative of the name Zusya or Zusha.

I know a few Naomis who are named for Zissel Bubbies....

Right, it was probably the name that they liked the most that was closest in meaning. However, it's not a direct translation which would be Metukah which as far as I know, has never been used as a name.

I know someone who was born on RH and her parents named her Tova Metukah or Tova Zissel. (she's called Tova.)
