So many people used it as a second name to name after a grandmother. I know a
Shira frumit
Shoshana frumit
Ruchama frumit
And they are all called by their first name only

I never liked the name. Maybe because I have a Yiddish name myself and growing up I was so jealous of all my siblings and friends they had boring Hebrew names and I was stuck with a more unique name? Anyway I had a neighbor frumet and she abhorred her name and had such a complex about it. She’d mention it a lot and told her mother many times how mean it was that she named her this name alone with no second name to change it to etc. when I hear anyone with that name for some reason I pity them.

We gave Frumet 3 months ago, and I (bedrudgingly) gave it because it's the right thing to do.
We call her Fruma.
I think Hashem gave her an extra dose of chein because it was really a sacrifice for me.

ETA: Just realized this thread was 5 years old. Whomever bumped it - seriously, please don't bump a thread that isn't of value. From a month ago, maybe I can be DL"Z, but 5 years???!!!

if you hate the name adding another is a good idea
as is a nickname you like
but if I really hated a name
I would want to add if at all possible
