The hair doesn't stay out of my face. I tried teasing it, doesn't help.

Can you cut them short so they are above eye level? This way they won't get in your eyes/mouth and won't bother you

They're short. Maybe 4-5 inches long.

4-5 inches seems long to me. What would happen if you cut them to 2-3 inches. Would it look weird?
