He's 9m and having a hard time adjusting to solids.
He seems to be very interested in food, he jumps for all food he sees and tries to stuff it into his mouth.
He gags a lot
He does not like being spoon fed turns head away or dribbles it out
I try to let him self feed little peices but his pincer grasp isn't good and he misses his mouth or drops it. He also doesn't seem to have a concept of chewing things it just goes to the back of his throat whole and then makes him gag
He loves to hold big piece of food and try to bite off peices but then he gags and vomits everything up.
A few times he vomited randomly after drinking a bottle.
We did just switch his formula but he was ok on it for a week before the vomiting starts.
He seems perfectly happy after vomiting.
How do I know if any of this is normal
Pediatrician is not helpful they say everything is normal
I feel like he needs some kind of sensory or feeding specialist
Something feels off

One of mine would projectilely vomit and break out in hives from citrus, dairy, eggs, and was also very limited in wheat and soy. Dairy allergies and soy allergies very often go together. Please go to a GI.

2 possible things I could think of, poor oral motor skills (needing feeding therapy) or he has reflux. Could be both.
A good start is to get an evaluation by a feeding therapist. They watch how your child eats, and could pinpoint a problem. Even if you don't have sessions afterwards, you can ask for tips on how to get your child adjusted to solids.
Reflux could be silent. A GI could help figure out why he is vomiting.

How long has he been on solids? Can you do something like steamed broccoli and let him hold onto the stem? It definitely could be an issue but could also be normal if he's very new to food. If it was my child I'd try give him some more help with self feeding to see if it's actually an issue or if he will adjust soon.
If he's had solids for a while already then yes get a referral.

I just had this with my son when I started feeding him at 6 months. He would vomit everything barely was able to swallow anything. I gave it break stopped feeding him solids for about 2 months and by then he somehow learned to swallow and keep the food down. Maybe don’t worry so much and try again in another month
Just want to add that my oldest didn’t really eat any food until after her first birthday she also had a hard time swallowing some kids just need more time

I have a very similar situation, and can understand that it is so hard to figure out what the issue is.
My daughter is 9 months also vomits pretty regularly. try to cut back on the bottle/ use an easier digestible formula like gentle lease. The more food he eats the less amount he will need.
It sounds like GERD symptoms also are present. Try to see if you can follow up with a GI. GERD often shows up with a heightened gag reflex as well as vomit or diaherria.
Try to have him eat real food as well to pick at on his try and give him a spoon to play with.
Some question to consider are
1) was their any difficulty his feeding/ bottle feeding before eating solids?
2) how often is he vomitting? Also is it digested or undigested vomit?
Hope this helps in some sort of way.
3) what’s his weight gain been like? Has there been a pattern in his weight gain. Does the vomit inhibit his ability to gain weight? Does he look fine after vomitting?

That does sound like there's something going on. I would see one of the types of specialists listed above.
Waiting may see the issue go away, but babies need to start real food around 6 months because they need more protein, iron, and certain vitamins than breastmilk or formula can supply. (just said this on another thread lol) If you take a break from solids, I'd recommend feeding broths and other liquefied nutrient-rich foods in the meantime.
