Hello,
Talking about bar mitzvas, can anybody tell me the average rates charged by tutors for teaching leining and how well in advance your boys are starting to prepare. Thank you.

It depends on the location. In Cleveland rates around $75-100 an hour from the people I know who do it

DH is a Baal Korei and teaches boys occasionally. Agree with the $40/half hour rate and once a week, that's what he usually does.
Our own son (just turned 12) knows the trop well and can lein properly from a Chumash. I don't know if he will lein at his Bar Mitzvah so I'm not sure he will prepare his actual parsha. But he does have the skill and practices with each day's Aliyah.
Just don't forget that there is a lot more to learn for Bar Mitzvah than leining! There are many halachos they need to know, and the hashkafa about what it means to be a Bar Mitzvah.

In Brooklyn, in my experience, it's a flat fee.
I paid $2500 a few years ago. It think it's recommended to start 8-10 months in advance but also depends on parsha and what the boy will be leining. If he's doing the whole parsha, part, just haftorah.... it's all a factor so best to discuss it with the leining rebbi as far as a year in advance

I’m Lakewood currently paying 60 a weeks for 30 minutes, started about 9 months before. It really depends on the parsha and in the kid. I had 1 son who needed a year, and 1 was quick plus short parsha so a couple of weeks was suffice

In lkwd paid $800 a few years ago. Was 6 months.
Based on how everything else changed I wonder if it doubled.
Amount of time depends on teacher. I’ve heard range of 6 months to 1 year.
