If its in relation to a child, you can say the perek of the age of that child. I heard it from a rebbitzen involved in chinuch, I forgot who

Here's the thing: We have to daven our hearts out. But we also have to know that Hashem has his plan and we're in His hands, like a baby who's been across the world in one day but doesn't notice anything else.
So the answer is, both.
