I am due any day with a boy iyh. I have zero idea what to name him. There are no obvious family or rabbi names to name after. This will probably be by last one. I always liked the name Simcha. Simple. This Chile should always be happy and only bring joy and happiness to those around him. I feel like it needs another name though. Any ideas for a name having to do with the parsha, Elul etc.

Dovid (like l'Dovid Hashem ori veyishi)
Nachum/Menachem (Shiva denechmta)

Assuming since you mentioned Simcha you don't want modern names but if you do, other names you could take from same tehillim mentioned above...

If you want from the parsha, you can always do Simcha Moshe, as Moshe is in most of the parshas now.

Or Simcha Yisrael, as bnei yisrael are in the parshas now too.

You could do Simcha Dovid or Simcha Yedidya, like ani l'dodi v'dodi li.

You could do Simcha Daniel, as it is almost yom hadin, and Daniel has the same shoresh.

Non of these combos sit right with me.

I think Simcha works better as the second of two names rather than the first.

If I had a son I'd either name him one of these: Meir Simcha, Yisrael Meir or Binyamin. Love all those names.

Moshe Simcha and Meir Simcha are super popular combos.

But I challenge the premise of your OP. The name Simcha is beautiful on it's own. It doesn't "need" anything.

Most people are never going to realize he was born in Elul. It doesn't come up often.

Just name him Simcha and enjoy him.

I know a Simcha Betzalel
Absolutely beautiful name IMO
happiness in the shade of Hashem-- which definitely works for Elul when we say "HaMelech Basadeh"-- Hashem is here, near us, and if we choose to connect to Him we can find such Simcha in His shade

I’m also due soon but I have names to name for. Off topic but don’t want to start a whole thread and my pregnancy brain isn’t working right now. If I had a baby tomorrow, Sunday, the bris would be (if everything goes smooth IyH) Sunday?
