Suppose you have the funds to build your dream custom mansion on a desirable lot, where would you buy? Suppose you have parents and schools in Lakewood and would want to stay in there or the surrounding neighborhoods, which area would you choose?

Right near the lake, with beautiful views and greenery. (And a fence if kids are little)

I bh could move financially, but I’m happiest in my 5 bedroom townhouse with the greatest neighbors ever. You can’t put money on a having a nice crowd, who has your back no matter what.

I would build a house with:
First floor: no oversized rooms with floating furniture. Small closed foyer. Small kitchen- my feet kill I don’t want to walk so much. A guest suite
Basement:
a medium size simcha hall, mikvah (can you be my attendant please?), more guest rooms, playroom, home office, home gym
Location would be on a lake but probably not Lakewood lake. Maybe a small lake in Jackson.
Definitely with a heated salt water pool
You’re all welcome to come visit when my dreams come true 🤩

Definitely South Lake Drive.
North lake drive and 1st Street are competition, but Southlake is much prettier views. On the other hand, North is more convenient from a traffic perspective if you have connection to Yeshiva. Or even focused out towards Jackson.

There isn’t much traffic on North Lake because it twists and turns. There are still a few properties available. You’ll have plenty of grass, beautiful views, peaceful walks at the lake. The lots are nice size but not so big that you don’t get to know your neighbors. If money was no object and I wanted to send my kids to school in Lakewood that’s where I’d build. It’s one of the few places where you’re close to the center of town but can still feel like you’re out in the woods in a beautiful setting.

I wonder if we are neighbors?!? I was thinking I would just build on my current street because I love it and my neighbors are so warm and loving.

I’ve thought about this a TON!! We bought a new construction lkwd house 10 years ago and it skyrocketed in value . Now we want to sell and move to TR or Jackson …
Few things - really really get to know yourself well. Are you introverted or extroverted? Will you love having neighbors over to play? For meals? How much land do you want between you and the house next door? Some areas of Jackson are mandatory 1 acre.
Also in terms of housing - what’s a priority? Newer? More bedrooms? Laundry in a convenient spot? Some really Jewish amenities are more likely found in lkwd vs home in TR and Jackson build by non Jews.
Shul/rav/ Frumkiet - how tolerant r u? How much diversity do u like? Is it important for your husband to have a rav he davens by that he likes?
Traffic - this is a big one - how far out are you willing to go? Will it bother you if ur kids are on the bus for 1hr plus? What about if you’re over 10 mins from a grocery store ?
Just some food for thought to mull over …

For me living so close to the lake would be similar to having a pool with no gate.
I literally get anxiety thinking about it every time I drive down n and s lake!!

Still not interested. I don’t find it so beautiful and you still need to sit in traffic to get anywhere.

I like my location so,
I would buy the other half of my duplex and make it one house, I would buy the duplex right behind me and knock it down so I would have a bigger yard.
