My 7 yrs old dd's blood test indicates pandas. In general she's an anxious kid but over the last few weeks suddenly started with new ocd-type stuff (I.e. excessive washing hands etc.). A couple of my kids had strep so tested her, throat culture was negative but bloodwork shows what to be concerned about.
She's starting on zithromax soon.
What am I in for? I've been working with her for dealing with her anxiety in general, do I need to have her see a professional in the mental health field to deal with this? I have consulted with a therapist before about the anxiety.

You will get a lot further by seeing a pandas specialist who treats the medical end of this than you will seeing a mental health expert. It's hard for therapy to stick in an inflamed brain.
Is she on motrin as well? Or any other anti inflammatories? An anti histamine can also help take down the inflammation.
