Planning a tentative trip in January (we are all Israeli citizens and some of the kids were born there). There is no Israeli embassy in my city and getting passports would require flying to another city with the whole family, a huge expense which might make the trip not possible.
Is it a crazy risk if we fly on our American passports? What’s the worst that can happen? Would they not let us in?
My husband is past age of miluim.

If you kids are born there they will definitely need an Israeli passport. The minute the agent at the airport sees "place of birth Israel" they will ask for the Israeli passport.

I think they will tell you to get the passports made in Israel and not let you out without them.

Check the Israeli Enbassy website about entry requirements.
Do you at least have expired Israeli passports? That might help.

For the kids who were born there yes.
My son was born in US and we never officially reported him (we moved out 7 years ago).
If they would let us do it by mail I would do it but they don’t allow for kids

I would contact your closest Israeli consulate and find out what to do.
There's a huge chance you'll get detained/fined or who knows.
Possibly not be allowed to leave until you sort it all out. 🤷🏼♀️

At least from israel to the US the law was you can fly on a forgein passport. Id check if this is the case the other way around.

You may not be able to leave. When my Saba a"h was in his 70s or 80s he went to visit Israel and they suddenly (after many years of saying nothing, and finally updating evening to computers) realized he had lived in Israel from like 1947 to 1964 and need a new Israeli passport.
Interestingly, the passport was also required on his final trip when he was in in the cargo hold after he was niftar. (Sorry I know that's kinda morbid I didn't know how else to phrase that)

They actually temporarily extended the allowance of using foreign passports for entry and exit until December 31, 2024.

Maybe sign up for updates from Chaim VChessed (or contact them) to see if they will extend it again.
Or fly in December?
