My 16 yr old DD has had nystagmus from birth. I need a new eye Dr that specializes in this to help determine if it's safe for her to drive. I'm in NJ, and not too excited about going back to Manhattan to her previous doctor that doesn't take insurance. She also recently saw a video of herself and has been extremely self conscious about her eyes. She wishes she could meet or speak to someone else with the condition for some emotional support.

Hey,
I also have it, since I was born as well. I don't know anyone else with it but I think it can vary pretty widely, but I'm fine to drive. I don't have glasses, never got surgery and BH I'm ok.
Tbh my mother was very worried when it came to dating but it was not really an issue, I just brought it up and explained it and moved on when it was relevant.
I'm not really sure if that's helpful, because she could have it different than I do.

Actually I was very self conscious as a young teenager too, but really everyone has something, and everyone gets over it so I don't think about it much these days

Thanks so much for your responses and kind words. Any recommendation for an eye doctor? Not sure where you are located...

Hey,
I haven't seen an eye doctor in quite some time. Nothing the doctors I went to suggested had any positive effects, and were at best uncomfortable. I don't know how but my eyesight got much better on it own BH! It doesn't have enough effect on my life that I'd ask a doctor now
