How?! I’m making close to 7k a month and it all goes to my expenses and that’s with me living very very frugually. I do put a few hundred in retirement because my employer matches it. Where do you live? What’s your rent?
I don’t get how people are making it with such low incomes on this thread.

Combined we make 200k
We pay our bills…barely.
I have a lot of help (cleaning and childcare) because we both work full time so that’s expensive
Believe it or not, we are very frugal. Mortgage is expensive, groceries are expensive, everything is expensive

There is a very big gap in rent and expenses depending on where you live… the amount of kids you have and income are just 2 of very many factors…

Our children are teens now (we married later in life).
Dh makes 300k and I make 50k.
This was not always the case and in the early years, dh experienced unemployment.

We have two school age kids. Nj, not Lakewood. We are in our 40s. Married late-ish.
Dh makes 180k and I make 30k plus tuition reduction (pre-tax) and about an additional 10k from a side job. Bh we can meet expenses and save. But we had help from parents with down payment for house bec we wanted to keep our mortgage low enough that we could manage easily each month.
