did anyone ever hear of this?

My baby girl is 18 months and noticed breast development. Ped sent us to pediatric gyn and labs came back high. Currently doing more labs and a bone x ray. I'm so confused...what can I expect?

Any info or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

What came back high?

Has she had her pituitary gland checked out? That's the hormone control center.

Was she tested for congenital adrenal hyperplasia?

Go to an endocrinologist they will run the full panel of tests to rule out issues that can be causing it and if it really is precocious puberty. This is their expertise.

Her fsh and estrogen came back high. She spent time in the nicu as a baby and had an mri of the brain before discharge which was clear

My daughter also showed early breast development as a toddler. We went to an endocrinologist too. It ended up being leftover harmones that passed to her in utero. The development didn't grow more until she hit puberty at the typical age.

Definitely see a pediatric endocrinologist! This is their field, moreso than a gyn.

She only had blood work done and going for bone x ray this week. It seems like the pediatric gyn deals with this quite a bit. She didn't give me much info yet she wants to see results first, I'm just anxious to know what I'm up against.

What is CAH?

I’ve been down this path. An endocrinologist is the only one who does all the tests. I also played games with bloodwork and bone age first at the wrong doctors. But you need more extensive tests and you need an endocrinologist. Might as well go now because they often have waits and every minute counts if it is an issue that needs to be treated.

None, you will need to travel at least an hour. Which gyn are you using? They should be able to refer you to an endo.

I saw dr applebaum. It seems like she definitely deals with this. There was no mention of an endo. Can anyone tell me info on treatments this in a toddler ? How will it impact her life?

I know you asked for a pediatric endo in the Lakewood area, but I couldn't resist recommending Dr. Laurie Cohen at Montefiore. Her phone number is 718 741 2450. She was BH the right shaliach for us after going to many other endocrinologists that were unable to help us. She comes recommended by Refuah Resources (rabbi Berman) and might be worth the trip. Hatzlacha!

So we use Dr Eapen. He is somewhat affiliated with Dr Appelbaum. There is another endo in his practice who is also recommended but I was told that she doesn’t see new patients. Dr Eapen is male. (My dd is already 11)
