How many and what types of shoes is your DD bringing for Seminary in Y-m? Someone told me yesterday that they need 3-4 weekday shoes because they do a lot of walking. Plus summer color weekday shoes. Plus sneakers for tiyul. Plus summer and winter shabbos...slippers, slides, floafers, etc. etc. She will need an extra duffle just for her shoes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to sem and had like 2 pairs lol. You can also purchase locally.
Imo need hiking boots
birkenstock type (also good for winter, or purchase boots separately)
Home slides
ballet slippers
Sneakers

That’s more than enough and if needed purchase locally

I don't have a kid in seen yet but I would bring minimum 2 shabbos 1wkdy 2 sneakers (1 for hiking 1 for fashion for no better description) Floafer slides. I literally bring that on a reg 1-2 week visit to Israel and I'm not fashionista or jappy. You just need the right shoes for all occasions. And actually would also bring rain booties if I was going wintertime.

Sandy mountainous walking is very quick to wear down and wear out shoes. And shoes are the #1 cause of going overweight on luggage.

So go easy and budget in case she needs to shop a little.

I'm not very stylish, but I think the minimum would be something like this:

--loafers or similar
--slip-on sneakers
--sneakers capable of more serious athletics
--nice Shabbos flats
--boots of some kind
--shower shoes

Have been blessed to send to SEM 5 times BH bh!
Depends what she will wear every day .
Mine wear sneakers in summer daily and when cooler ankle boots daily.
Therefore
definitely 2 good pair of sneakers. (mine often wear on shabbos sneakers esp with all the walking, so one nicer pair one more good solid hiking ones)
2 pairs of ankle boots (one a little dressier for Shabbos as needed)
1 pair dark flats (again for Shabbos)
1 pair summer shabbos shoes (lighter colour)
slides for showers and water events
(if she needs proper water shoes for a tiyul she can buy there the day before literally anywhere)

That's it!

My daughter packed the following:

Loafers
Slip-on sneakers
Heavy duty sneakers, for tiyulim
Light colored (aka summer) Shabbos shoes
Black (aka winter) Shabbos shoes
Floafers
Birkenstocks

She is aware she did not need both the floafers and birkenstocks, but the floafers are for water activities and the birkenstocks for wearing around the dorm. She had both of them already and is the type of kid that takes very good care of her things, so they were not bought new for seminary. Neither were the Shabbos shoes - both pairs she already had at home. The loafers are new, same as for every school year, and she didn't have a decent pair of sneakers so got both of those. From her older sister we learned that two pairs of sneakers really were needed.

Ok my DD knows this is excessive but this is the amount her and all her friends brought (between 10-13):
Vinces
Loafers
Black sneakers (for class)
Sneakers
Hiking sneakers
Espadrilles
Shabbos summer and winter
Natives
Ugg slippers
Slides
Rain booties

Keep in mind that she had all of these already except the black sneakers (very cheap from Amazon) and the regular sneakers which she bought and wore the whole summer.
