Are denim skirts a summer item only or is it regular to wear in the winter as well?

I wear denim year-round, but I couldn't care less about frum fashion. AIUI, the frum-frum, iow yeshivish and charedi, don't wear denim at all. Their loss. It's a great fabric: durable, wrinkle-resistant, non-clingy, truly opaque, and camouflages dirt. In what other fabric could you sit directly on the grass and not worry about grass stains? (I mean blue denim, not white.)
