Have a whole wheat fresh homemade challah roll with my supper tonight? I normally don't have carbs with supper and don't have much carbs during the day but my plan allows it. Is it worth it?

I usually stay away from bread completely except for sourdough for breakfast
In the evening it just adds extra carbs that your body is unlikely to burn since you are going into resting mode for the night to come
However.. everything in moderation
Maybe find other carbs that are satisfying? Do you feel like you davka need ww challah? Maybe your body wants the nutrients that it has, like b vitamins? If not, is it a craving for bread in general?

It's only because it's on my counter waiting to be put away. And fresh obviously tastes better than being warmed up on shabbos. But if it were to be coming from the freezer, I wouldn't just heat one one on a regular night.

A true friend would tell you not to do it. You’ll regret it afterwards. If you feel like you can’t resist, cut up the roll in thirds and pack away two. At least you’ll know that you ate, but less than you originally were going to.

How big is this roll? If it's eight ounces, that's half a standard loaf of bread. If it's two ounces, that's two slices of bread--NBD and you said your plan allows it. So what's the problem? And unless you pig out on bread often, even if you ate the whole 8 ounces--assuming you did this only now and then--in the long run it would make no difference provided you immediately resumed your normal regimen. An ounce of bread has roughly 80 or 90 calories; half a pound would thus have between 640 and 720 calories. There are 3500 calories in a pound of fat, so the calories in a half pound of bread would slow your weight loss by all of 2-3 ounces. A smidge more if your bread weighs in at 120 calories an ounce. Bad if you did this every day, but virtually meaningless if you did this only once in a blue moon.

It’s just unnecessary and it doesn’t sound like OP is dying for it

Just not worth it IMO. Make fresh challah after you reach your goal

I'm late to this thread but I'm a big believer that you'll be able to make healthy food choices longer and more consistently if you don't feel deprived.

Good for you! Now move on and keep going with your plan. It's ok to enjoy fresh bread on rare occasions. It's not going to destroy your diet for this one time. As long as you don't let it derail you. You're fine.
