Does anyone know if this is fine?
I have a very high quality stroller and was looking to sell it for $450.
However, I have a friend who had a baby recently and cannot afford a double stroller.
I don't have the means to just give it away. I bought it because it has great performance and planned to recoup some when finished with it by selling it.
I do have to give Maaser somewhere and wondering if I can use the equivalent Maaser money and deduct it and give her the stroller.
Let's say I have $500 Maaser I need to give this month, can I give the stroller to her and give the $50 Maaser elsewhere?
Has anyone asked this before?

You can probably deduct the cheshban from maaser. Definitely worth asking.

I’m wondering if you spoke to ruv and what you were told.
On a similar note.
I have a family member that has a clothing store and her husband sits and learns. I wouldn’t necessarily spend so much but want to help them. May I use some Maaser money for the amount that is more than I wud normally spend to buy clothing in her store?

That is more complicated because you end up receiving goods in the transaction. You should ask a shaila.

I've been told that the difference on a discount on service definitely can be used as maaser for someone who fits in the category of needing one's maaser.
For goods, I was told the amount you would pay (and you need to be honest with yourself) can't be considered maaser but if you went above that, you could (e.g. a gift you got in appreciation of a donation).
