Not a clue.
I buy for 2-5 people (all adults) depending on who is home.
I buy sale and have a fully stocked freezer, so I can go a week without shopping or buy 6 briskets when I find for $6.99/lb.
I have spent close to $1000 one week and as little as $30 a different-not necessary consecutive weeks. I think some weeks I don’t go to any stores, so I spend nothing at all. Especially if I go to the fruit store on Thursday/Friday and then kick the can down the road and not go until the following Sunday/monday -10 days(especially if I am not making Shabbos or I am being lazy and using up what I have or frozen)
There is no regularity to my Shabbos company -I could have 12 adults 2 weeks in a row, followed by DD and SIL for Shabbos week 3 (I cook extra for him and send food home with them) or it could be just me and DH for 6 weeks and we might be invited out for many Shabbos meals during that time frame.
I also shop for my kids and they go shopping in my pantry/and freezer (as I did for years by my mom and MIL). DD might visit and clear me out of all my chicken cutlets and take a brisket or 2 (it’s more like I pushed my food on her). B”H they will do it for their children as well.
I am aware that is is a huge bracha that I don’t worry about my budget. I shop sale and I shop Costco/aldi/cheap fruit store and cut/wash/check all my own produce. I don’t have my nails done and I only buy clothes at the end of the season and shoes at DSW on clearance with an additional coupon code. I am thrifty but I can afford my needs and low maintenance wants.

Working out we spend around £850 per month which seems to be 1150 dollars.
2 adults, 1 pre teen.
Includes pack up lunch for all of us x 5 days/week, 1 x take-out per month (usually pizza/falafel/sushi) and shabbos guests (usually 3-5 extra) for 1-2 shabboses.
We do simple meals but spend extra for 2 gluten free and 1 dairy free and egg free which is expensive. If not for food allergy issues I would spend a lot less.
We also have a v limited nosh selection and a lot of fruit and veg so money spent on organic produce esp fruits more expensive but worth it for health reasons.
We drink normal water (most people in London do) and have a home coffee machine so save money on that.

My kids get no meals in school
I remember when I used to keep my Walmart grocery order to around $100 a week and then supplement from the kosher store. Those days are long gone.

I don’t have WIC. I recently found out that if a child is on Jerseycare then that makes you WIC eligible even if your income is too high for the WIC income limit so I’m planning to apply for it.
I don’t keep pas Yisroel so I buy bread, buns, and pita at Trader Joe’s or Aldi. We buy fun extras at Trader Joe’s that are OUD but basics like milk, cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese etc. we buy chalav Yisroel at a Jewish store.

Our grocery store spending is about $1k a month for 4 people, but that includes diapers, wipes, laundry, disposables, etc. I’d guess food alone is 800-900. We’re in a small community in the Midwest.

I’m either in DMV or Delmarva….
I don’t know how much I spend but I feel like prices are outta control. Especially at the frum store. Eggs are around 4/5 dollars a dozen! Haven’t been this week to see how high it is this week. Almost scared to.

I go away one or two Shabbosim a month. When I’m home, we have salmon, challah, homemade dips, and chicken soup for the night meal. Day meal - salmon, challah, homemade dips and cholent. It doesn’t come out expensive at all. You can buy salmon at Aldi for cheap - many (all?) rabbanim consider it kosher.
Dinner each night is 1 pound of chicken or ground beef with cheap sides like rice, pasta, roasted veggies.
We get target brand water bottles, I consider Poland spring to be designer water lol.
My toddler lives on bananas, blueberries, and fruit packets from Aldi. They’re all really cheap. |
Lol I consider any bottled water to be designer water. We use the "generic" tap water.

We do get wic but we also have food sensitivities/allergies so I use it mostly just for the fruit veggies milk and bread
We buy a lot of gluten free and spelt which is $$$ and I’m constantly on a diet which means we buy a crazy amount of tuna chicken and fresh fruits and veggies- way beyond our wic allotment

We spend about $1200 a month on food only. Plus WIC which covers probably another $300.
We do not eat out or buy ready takeout.
