My daughters hands are severely dry - cracked, and she can barely open and close them. This is the summer! Why is her skin so dry. She drinks and we are constantly shmearing with cerave.

What helps?

Castor Oil!!! 1n 10 days she will feel like a new person- must be hexane free and in a glass bottle (not plastic) it changed my skin/ lips and cuticles.

I use before bed and wash in the morning.

you can start every other day if its too thick.

or Lasinoh cream for breastfeeding mothers. I splash it everywhere.

Can you recommend (or even better link) the castor oil brand that you use? TIA

Yes the Cutemol promotes really quick healing, it's amazing BH for cracks and very dry areas that regular cream isn't working on.
It was recommended by the dermatologist for dd.
Use it consistently for just a few days and you'll be amazed and how it heals the skin (it's very thick, you'll need to allow it to dry for a bit). You'll start to see a difference the first day.

Did she have Covid recently? This happens to some kids after Covid.

Desitin! Yes, the diaper rash cream. Works wonders. Have her put it on after each time she washes her hands. And then have her put it on before bed with gloves over it overnight.

Also, keep lots of towels around, could be she isn't drying her hands well.

Also, if her hands are that dry, please keep an eye on how often she is washing her hands. At that age, it was the only visible sign of OCD which I had developed.
