When I was a kid their was a story that everyone knew. It was called something like "The house next door" It was about an imposter. There was a character in the story I think named riding hood. I think it was a short story rather then a book. We made skits on it and dressed up as the characters. I want to reread it now as an adult. Anyone know who the author is. Is it available to read free online.

In the story “Little Red Riding Hood”, there is a girl on the way to her grandmother’s house. She gets eaten by a wolf, who puts on her cloak with a red hood in order to deceive the grandma. So he is an impostor. When he knocks on the grandma’s door, she figures out that he’s really a wolf and chops him open and frees her granddaughter.

Oh wow would never have thought little red riding hood. I was googling for her and google was trying to tell me that and I thought no way that’s too obvious.

No. Not little red riding hood I'm not sure I got the title right. I also don't know if its taken from a book or is from somewhere else.
It's about a boy and his friendship with his next door neighbor an old lady that he does gardeningfor. She invites him inside to try her baked cookies and tells him she's going away to her grandkids for a few days. And doesn't need him for a bit. And he tells her that in the news their are scary robberies going on should he watch her house....
