I work in a kosher grocery. Was just told whole sale price of eggs are going up by a dollar next week
Apparently chickens on the west coast are getting sick and so the East Coast is shipping eggs to the west coast and all of that traffic and production is driving the prices up and they are already higher than last week
So stock up of you need... It looks like the price is just going to keep going up

That’s crazy. I paid 4.50 for eggs this week.
$5.50 for eggs is just insane.

I believe based on a post you just made that I know the store you work at. This is the most expensive store in the entire area and known to be a massive rip off! ( I don't mean this rudely at all! Stores are entitled to charge what they want) my question is more, is this all stores?

Yes. The entire egg market it fluctuates every week just like produce. It all depends on what the chickens are laying and stuff. It's as much as supply as anything else.
Things like eggs, dairy and produce can fluctuate daily.
{As an aside I don't know how cooperate calculates the margins. But there's a lot more to pricing than just getting few dollars more than what we paid. There's so much that figures into why stores charge what they charge, and we do price compare to other stores in the neighborhood.}

IME Walmart usually is the lowest in my area for eggs, but the prices have definitely gone up. I paid close to $13 for 60 (yeah I use a lot of eggs) and it was less than $10 a few weeks ago.

I just looked at my receipt from yesterday and I’m shocked. The eggs were 4.39 at krm. It’s insane they will go up even more.

I'm so fed up with food prices. It's a basic necessity and its priced like luxury items. Every vegetable and fruit that I pick up is a dollar or more. My pot of chicken soup costs about 25-30 in ing. What's happening?

This is all based on supply and demand.
Chickens are getting sick and not laying eggs that means that eggs are in high demand. Of course prices are going to go up
Vegetable are also prone to market fluctuations. Veggies are shipped all over the world do if your squash is coming form Venezuela and there's a hurricane. Destroying the crop the price with double or treble for a few weeks till the market stabilizes. This happened a few months back

Thank you Singleagain!
Your store isn’t a ripoff (like someone else said).
I have no idea where you work but I went shopping yesterday and didn’t buy eggs because they were $4.50 a dozen. I asked dh to get some because the place near his work has better prices. He paid $5.
