I use it as I am in and out of the car all day long and my baby is with me. Tbh I'm not sure about all the hate. I'm using my now for the second child. (#4&5). It's super convenient and it makes my life a lot easier. I was thinking of not getting it but then decided to get it. My last child had a lot a lot of appointments and it was really really convenient to have it. I'm not sure why there's so much hate around it or why. It's really much worse than any other car seat to be honest. I know many many people who keep their children in car seats for the first 4 months or so and they sleep near their bed. I'm not sure why having a doona over part of the day is any worse.

I have a feeling the people who are against the doona are not the people who do that Wink

Just want to say, there’s definitely confirmation bias here. Most people who decided not to get it will keep saying they don’t regret it, such a waste etc, while most people who got it will say how amazing it is. Only very few who really strongly hated it or really strongly want it will change their mind.

Why are people so proud of themselves that they didn't use a doona? I don't see how a doona is any different than a snap n go besides for the price. Ppl used a snap n go till the baby grew out of it...now they use a doona. Obviously a baby shouldn't be kept for extended time in either. But just because the doona is pricey people need to hate it. I am in and out of the car all day and thought it was amazing. Yes it's a bit annoying no basket but way easier to take a doona in and out then a base and a car seat.

Who's proud? Where does it come in here?
This thread is specifically about regretting not getting a doona. We should be able to share our personal
experience without being put down for it. If this doesn't apply to you, you don't need to comment.

(And yes, a doona is different than a regular car seat. The position of a doona is different & not good for babies. And because a doona has wheels & is in style, many people use it as their regular stroller & the baby ends up being in it for too extended periods of time.)

No question about the convenience, no one is questioning that lol!!

For me, the fact that it doesn't have a storage basket is very inconvenient. The snap in go is very convenient for wheels. Takes 2 seconds to unfold it & click the car seat on.

Most likely because the people who have it are enjoying the convenience of it, while the people who didn't get it, likely didn't get it for a reason.

The position is only different outside of the car (graco snap base at least is more reclining than doona) but in the car all carseats have to have the same incline.

Personally I find the doona to be a lifesaver for taxis & rideshares, but if I'd have a car I would probably find it as less of a need.

Yes. Ive seen so many doonas tip and fall from bags being hooked on. That's a huge danger IMHO as well.

I had the doona for my youngest dc and it was very heavy and she woke up every time I clicked it to a stroller position.

Pregnant bH and not sure I want to use it again, I am looking for a lighter weight and easier solution.

This.
I don't have a car so it's an uber to and from the babysitter every day.
No my baby doesn't sleep in it. I send to a babysitter who's actually equipped with the stuff she needs for her job. She has cribs for naps.
We travel every Shabbas so uber for that too!
Imagine having to shlep a car seat base in and out every time no thanks!

Not proud of myself that I didn’t get a Doona. It just didn’t work for me. I’m tall, the handle is short and has no basket. End of story. I raised my entire family in the suburbs and have a different car seat and stroller base. The 4 seconds it takes me to put my stroller in the trunk is completely mitigated by the back pain I don’t have by not using a stroller that doesn’t adjust.

No regrets. I don't like the heaviness of the Doona and I don't like the push of the carriage. I'm a tall person and I don't like stooping. I also MUST have a basket underneath when I shop. I cannot either push a doona while simultaneously pushing a shopping cart in a supermarket. I used a Maxi Cosi Coral and loved it.

I had a Doona and loved it and currently have the Evenflo Shyft and love it. But it is important to use it as a car seat. Meaning it is meant for the car and a quick errand. It is harmful to use any car seat for extended periods of time. It is not a regular stroller and shouldn’t be used as such.

I assume because she takes the baby with her to the door.
Exactly. I didn’t want to leave baby in the car while picking up the kids. It was worth it just for that because I was always in a rush and the doona was so easy to take in and out.

Besides that I really felt no need for a doona.
