From Lakewood? Will be traveling in to the Catskills for the day alone with kids and would love to break up the trip both ways. With places to get out with something to do. And places to eat? To buy dinner on the way home maybe breakfast on the way there? Anything scenic? Playgrounds? Kids ages 2-12. Thanks!

Thanks for the info! I heard the ruach hachayim park is separated by genders? Would my seven year old son be allowed to come with the girls?
And does the Marketplace in Monsey have food places to sit and eat? Anything between there and Lakewood to stop?

Ruach Hachyim park does have separate areas, but it's really not enforced at all. Everyone is generally everywhere.
(Though they do have a separate family area.)
You can stop in Passaic or Teaneck for food.

Ok sounds good! Any easy places in Teaneck or Passaic? Pref fleishig. Casual that we can sit and eat on the way home… kid friendly. Thanks for all the info!

I just called ruach hachaim. If I understood the Yiddish correctly it only opens to the public at 3? My Yiddish isn’t great tho and I didn’t hear any English option… Anything else similar around between the Catskills and Lakewood? Or am I not understanding?

Regatta playground in West Orange NJ is a lot of fun for the younger kids. Pirate ship themed playground with a lakefront view.

Teaneck has so many family friendly meat restaurants. Noahs Ark, Dougies, Chickies, Shnitzel Plus, etc. Plus tons of dairy too.

I think van saun park (Paramus area) is not very out of the way. They have a carousel, zoo, and nice playground and some walking pathes.

I’ll second the Ruach Hachaim idea.
We do it pretty much after every visit to the Catskills- kids still get excited.

We stop in to on e of the takeout places in Monroe ( there are no eat ins) and eat it in car on way or stop on the way to eat.

Which takeout place do you recommend? That’s a good idea to take it to go and then stop along the way to eat it somewhere…
