How do people afford to send kids to camp? I know there are places that help (PJ Library, etc), but the cost is still so high! Looking at Sternberg, it’s over $4K for one half including trip fee! Do camps subsidize campers at all, ie do they have scholarships available? Curious what people’s experiences have been at different camps.

My experience has been that camp scholarships are pretty scant. I've had places give me $200 off or so, but not much. DH and I work hard to save up to send our girls to camp, as we consider it to be an important part of their Chinuch.

I only applied to a camp that took one happy camper and got $500 off and got another $300 locally so it took the camp price from 3000 to 2200. It was the only way I could afford it. I find overall the yeshivish camps that I looked into were priced in the 2400-3000 range because that's what people can afford. 4k is a lot of money for most families.

My camp does not take pj library but we do get $600 off per girl. My school offers a $500 scholarship to families that need it. Camp is around $3000 and my girls babysit during the year or worked first half to help pay for camp. Thats the only way I can do it.

Sternberg doesn't give scholarships. In the past we've sent to camps that take one happy camper and uja funding. Not this year though 😭
