Can’t make two cooked dishes for seudat maftseket?

What does it mean by cooked? I saw a thread sharing what people were making and lots of people said things like soup, mashed potatoes and salmon. Those are 3 cooked items? But we’re only supposed to eat one cooked item? Someone help please I am confused

We have supper a bit earlier so I don't think it's a true seudah hamafsekes. Then we have bread and hard boiled eggs with ashes right before the fast

We eat a little while before the fast. Closer to the fast we make a more official seudat hamafseket. At that "meal" we wash and eat plain bread dipped in ashes and cooked eggs (just that one cooked item). We eat on the floor, it's a somber meal.

So ideally you have a larger meal before mincha. It should be a good meal, but you should leave some space. Then you can carry on drinking, and eating if you want to. After mincha you have the seuda hamafseket, sitting on the floor, with bread and boiled eggs dipped in ashes, and water. This normally finishes right before the fast.

Can seudah hamafseket be with sliced challah? Or needs to be white bread?

I don't think there are any halachos about what type of bread.

I always buy pita, because it's round, and plain. It's meant to be a very plain, mourning g meal, so it would be better to avoid rich breads. Some challah are almost like cake, so I don't that would be suitable.

Crumple up a couple of sheets of paper, and put them in a foil pan, and set fire to them.

If you have smoke alarms, do it outside.

We do pita in ashes and a roasted vegetable. We can't stomach hard boiled eggs.

You should be washing for the meal and benching afterwards. Its not celebratory, but it is a seudah. You need something you can wash and make hamotzei.
