its fine you can just use regular sugar instead or
you can use some vanilla extract mixed with sugar to add vanilla flavor

Recipes don’t usually call for 1/2 cup vanilla sugar. Are you sure it’s not 1 or 1/2 tbsp?

It’s a double recipe so it was 1/4 cup twice

Still sounds like a lot. I’m sure it’s fine to just sub with some extra regular sugar

I’ve never seen a recipe that calls for 1/4 c vanilla sugar. Please triple check this recipe.
I’d keep it safe and put only 1/4 c for DOUBLE the recipe. (That’s 2 TB per recipe, makes more sense )

Agree it sounds like a lot even for double recipe but even if correct you can use regular sugar or honestly just skip it the recipes call for way to much sugar

Ok, I stand corrected. I’m sorry!
As the previous posters wrote, just keep going with regular sugar instead.
Hearty appetite.

To sub the extra 1/4 cup vanilla sugar, use 1/4 cup sugar and 4 tsp vanilla extract (or leave out the extract if you don't have).
Agree it does sound like a lot even for double recipe.
Enjoy!

When I double the recipe I never double the sugar its not necessary and you wont taste a difference. I definitely wouldn’t add more sugar. Just add a little extra vanilla extract to get the vanilla flavor
