I'm putting in a new kitchen floor, an undecided if I should go for vynil or tile.
I don't the love the look of dirt getting into the cracks of the tiles lines (grout), but I'm also being told that the vynil get's scratched.
Hmm....
I'd love some advice - I need something practicle that will hold up, not show much dirt, and not crazy costly.

I had LVP put in a few years ago and it's held up beautifully.... And my kitchen is very well trafficked. I don't see any scratches on it.

I have tile and am not sure Id do it again. I have broken some dishes I really liked and I had a bad fall motzei shabbos on said floor and BH didnt break any bones but the recovery is realllllllly not fun. So if I had to do it over again Id pass on the ceramic tiles.

I have darkish tiles with dark grout, it's only issue with light colored grout

I put in LVT a year ago. I love that there’s no grout, super easy to clean, and it’s soft underfoot (important to me for little kids as well as grandparents visiting frequently). And it hides dirt very well so it almost never looks bad. That said, I do have some chips and scratches after only a year. Not noticeable, and I think it will be much cheaper to just replace a few planks as needed than to replacing ceramic tiles. but it’s not as durable as I’d hoped.

I really like my tile. You do have to make sure the tile is good quality. I think that there are ratings of strength of the tiles.

I find this helpful
If you were to do it again woukd you do it differently?
Also, do tiles only come in ceramic?
Anyone do v tiles as opposed to ceramic?
Or do those pop up and unsafe? Or out of style?

My tiles didn't break. Dishes broke but if I would have to replace I'd do it again. You can't compare washing tiles to washing any other floor.

Hmmm. Yes but I would upgrade to the thickest lvt (I went for midrange, not the thinnest and not the thickest). I really hate grout! (I got dark grout in the bathroom along with super-big tiles to minimize grout lines, and it’s still not as good as no grout).
I’m also assuming a shorter lifetime compared to tile. Since it’s cheaper and easier to install I’m ok with the thought of replacing it in a few years.

Recently put vinyl in a few rooms and I really regret it. It’s very very very hard to wash.
I would not want it in my kitchen.

Lvt had very good marketing and its pushed everywhere and by every flooring store. I have put it it in numerous properties that I manage and all different companies of LVT. They are all damaged in different places.
Whoever has LVT take a close up and you will notice scratches.
I have put down laminate which has held up way better.

If you get tile, it should be porcelain and not regular ceramic tile.
Porcelain tile is more durable and doesn’t chip easily. Also the color goes through all the way.
porcelain is fired at a higher temperature.

I have vinyl kitchen floors, high quality.
Within a year you could see scratches.
A small piece actually chipped off after 5 years.
I should have bought extra pieces like someone said. Mine is discontinued.
