Is the regular one pocket size too small for a third grader?

I got the regular kane backpack for my 2nd a 3rd grader.
mini one for my 4 yr old.

I got the Kane backpack for my daughter in first grade and it was perfect. Quality is great.

I have the Kane for my 2nd grader. she'll be using it again this year.
she's had it for 2 years already. the company replaced it within the first year for a torn zipper. I was able to tell that the quality improved with the replacement one.
its a pretty looking backpack (though I feel like its a bit stiff. we prefer softer ones so they are easier to use...)
