Is her colon very damaged?
Have you looked into going on a liquid diet to repair her colon - under a dr care. We didn’t go that route but my daughters gastro recommended chop if we decided on that.
It allows the colon to heal to better absorb nutrients.

What about making a chicken soup with meat

I have Crohn's.
Getting the disease under control quickly with a good biologic medicine is crucial to gaining weight.
Also if there are any foods that cause looser stools, avoid them. Dr usually tells you what foods will and won't work.
But main thing is to get the ibd under control

Bone broth to heal leaky gut. Soak bones with 3 T. Apple cider vinegar first to leak out all the minerals. Simmer 24-48 hours Keep on crockpot on low and you can add water to the pot.
Kate farms 1.4 high calorie drink is easily absorbed and can use as replacement meal. Good for crohns. Supplement optimal GI is good. Aloe Vera sooths lining of stomach. Lots of smoothies with added kale and sprouts. Turmeric/curcumin

Please give me more information. Is CHOP a hospital? Which gastro do you use? My daughter doctor is only good with Dx and tests. And giving meds. No help with diet except telling us to go see the dietitian. Which we did who said we can eat everything except hard nuts seeds.

You could pm
For a functional medicine dr, someone who is an MD and also herbal/ Chinese medicine.
She might lessen the symptoms considerably

The fastest way to get calories is to drink her calories
I don’t know what foods she is allowed
But if you can add nut or seed butters and sweeten it with something it would pack in the calories

My son was getting very thin when we first got the diagnosis when he was a pre-teen (about six years ago). As soon as we got him on a biologic he felt better, gained weight and had a huge growth spurt. He eats completely normally and besides for his meds and some very mild bathroom issues, he’s doing fabulous.
I know this isn’t everyone’s experience but figured I’d share.
