Can you recommend brands? Preferably, drugstore brands?

Thanks in advace!

At this point you just need to try them or watch many reviews. There are many names but you need to look into what they deliver.

Ok, but at least I'd like to know if I should be going the BB route or the CC route. I'm asking, because based on a Google search, it seems like I'd want a BB cream, but I don't hear anyone talking about using them or recommending them, everyone I know or have read talks about CC creams.....

I have dry skin and some wrinkles - something that will give me a smoother look and hydrate, but not heavy coverage. Light coverage for sure, but not heavy.

I use a Korean BB cream (Missha Perfect) and I don’t think there’s much difference between BB and CC. My one is very popular with pale people. I love it - it doesn’t cling to dry patches and is quite a natural look.
