I got half ring round diamonds .40 for about 4.5k five years ago.

Personally I would not spend thousands on lab grown. Your not getting a great deal because your stones have no value. Mined diamonds at least are still worth something.

But if someone doesn't care if their stones have no resale value and want huge stones thst would otherwise be unaffordable then I guess lab grown is the way to go.

Just because you can't resell it doesn't mean it has no value.

I heard a great analogy for lab grown diamonds. And those who went through infertility I think will be able to relate. Nobody will tell you that an ivf baby is not a real baby the same is with lab grown diamonds. I heard it from one of the lab grown diamond Jewelers I went to look.

Of course you heard it from a lab grown jeweler. Dumb analogy. Makes no sense.

Pretty much it does mean that. You can love it but it's still worthless if you need money

I don't think it's dumb at all. I actually think it's a great analogy.

It's not a good analogy because nobody (or nobody normal) tries to trade in or sell their children at any point. But many people trade in or sell their Jewelry. I understand that he is trying to say the final products look the same...and that's fine. But the resale value isn't the same. If you still think it's a great analogy get back to me when you are trying to sell your child.

I’m looking into upgrading my ring into a lab grown one. I was looking at an 8ct engagement ring from Bloomingdales for 13k.

Lab grown is cheaper.

8ct stone? That’s costume jewelry

My .20 natural was around 3k
I wouldn’t do lab bc it is NOT natural and why would I spend thousands for something made in a lab that has no value or meaning? I rather buy from china for $20 if I want fake, in my opinion lab is fake. It’s not natural which = real diamond.

I personally don’t understand lab jewlery. The allure of diamonds it’s that exclusive and special , when they are so cheap and everyone has it it’s not special anymore

It’s not, it’s a certified lab grown diamond. You might consider stones that size to look like costume jewelry but not everyone does

Personally I’d rather save $$ on diamonds and spend it on other things in my closet

Also lab diamonds aren't so cheap. Some of them cost thousands of dollars. Yes it's cheaper than a real diamond but you aren't getting a diamond that has resale value!!

Unless you are getting rare, unique stones (like blue or pink diamonds, or certain famous stones), no diamonds are special. There are millions of diamonds, they aren’t rare. They are controlled and marketed to seem “rare”

Also- Most people in the US get diamond engagement rings. Most frum women get diamond rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings. If almost every single person you know has a diamond tennis bracelet- how is it special and rare??

I mean, that’s literally the definition. Unless your talking about sentimental value, which is something else entirely

Yeah I can’t spend thousands of dollars on it. China looks exactly the same. You can say that about diamonds also true but I know what I’m wearing and that’s it’s expensive and real. Lab is not the same. I would feel like I’m trying to be something I’m not.

I guess it depends on the circles. I can afford real diamonds but I feel like it’s a waste of money, and the lab stones look nicer. In my circles everyone has been getting lab, it’s not taboo. Also I know I’m walking around in something I can afford anyways so I dont feel like I’m pretending

why would stones from China look the same?
If you're getting good quality lab diamonds (which are real diamonds by the way; they were just formed in a regimented environment, kind of like farmed salmon) from a good dealer, they do not look anything like junk from China, and they do not look anything like CZ (nor are they similar to CZ; they are chemically identical to mined diamonds)

About three years ago I got an eternity ring all the way around with diamonds and sapphires. It’s was around $3,000 and the diamonds are nice quality.

Lab grown and CZ are nothing alike.

It's funny you would even compare. Anyone can spot a CZ a mile away and it looks like junk. Lab grown in real gold settings is beautiful and expensive looking without all the ethical issues and stupid price markups. I honestly think the diamond industries marketing teams need a huge raise for keeping the public thinking that there is something inherently better about a diamond pulled out of the ground. There are literally billions of diamonds in the world. There is nothing expensive or rare about them anymore. It's just good marketing.

Also, most of what you pay for with Lab grown is the gold, not the diamond so yeah its a good deal. Even mined diamonds sell at a fraction for what you bought them for.
