It has been stated by the Doona company itself that this new model will NOT be available in the United States. That it isn’t made for United States safety standards. Only for European safety standards, and not for use in America.

I'm not worried. Plenty of people will be importing them privately.

What do you mean you aren’t worried? They aren’t safe to use…
Why would people put their baby in something not safe?….

Why is it not safe if it's just not approved yet by the US??
The doona is not approved in Canada at all, should I not use it if I live in Canada?

It’s not that it’s “not yet approved by the us”
It will not be approved in the us ever.
The chest clips for Europes safety standard is different than for the US.
There is NO chest clip for European car seats.
and to add, there are also different anchors that some car seats don’t even have in Europe, and are needed in the US to lock the car seat safely into place.
So either way it’s not safe to use!
Europes safety standard is that in an emergency a baby should be able to be lifted out of a car seat with a quick motion of just pulling out the baby.
It is just a v shaped strap - here look - image of what their car seat strap looks like
https://www.tipitapi.lt/cdn/sh.....27528
In the US, their safety standard is that in an emergency, when the chest clip is placed in the proper way, the chest clip is what keeps the baby inside the car seat and prevents them from flying out at high speeds!
That’s why you make sure the chest clip is on the baby’s chest under their chin, and not on their stomach area.
And if it’s not approved where you live, you shouldn’t use it - god forbid anything, Chas v’shalom! you would be held responsible since it’s illegal to use.
But please do your own research.
Everyone should research extensively what’s safe to use, and go from there.

Oh come on. It's not less safe because there is a border between us.
Plenty of people in Canada use it.
I can see someone not using it to avoid the ticket, but I haven't heard anyone being ticketed for it. I don't even know if they give tickets for this.
I even left the hospital with it and nobody told me a word.

You know it’s not even a great car seat to be used in America, right? Doesn’t have great ratings
But I’m talking more about the difference in the European car seats and American car seats.
They are extremely different.

I tried ordering it online to the US, put they don't ship it to the US.
I'm going to try to have someone from London bring it for me.

I might have family be able to bring it to me from London in a couple of months. I'll either pay the baggage fee's or have them take it out of the box & check if in like a stroller.

Safer to have them pay the baggage fee. Checking it in is considered as if it was in a car accident as it gets all banged up.

I'll probably pay the baggage fee.

Doubtful since it's not a legal carseat here

I just spoke to Doona, the rough estimate as to when it will be ready for sale in the USA is late 2025, and it can very likely be pushed back even further. However it’s definitely coming to the US only it’s a matter of when.
It is absolutely not safe to use a European tested Doona in the USA. In case of an accident Chas v’shalom one can have major issues with insurance.
