I’m deeply appreciative to all of my kids counselors, drivers, and other staff. However , we don’t have an extra penny to our names, to the point where we are buying less than enough food for our family.

How can I show appreciation without being able to send tips? This pains me so please be kind.

Write a letter! Express proper appreciation, even go as far to write how you noticed their affect on your child. A meaningful letter will 100% get the message across.

The best gift I got as a camp morah was a thank you note and a $1 scratch-off lottery ticket. The mother wrote that they can't afford to give me the tip I deserve, but they hope I win the scratch-off. It was very heartfelt.

A heartfelt note detailing what you're grateful for us super appreciated! And if you can have your children draw something as well it's super touching

You can bake them a bag of cookies and wrap with a nice bow. They may or may not eat them but they will be touched

Speaking as a camp director whose camp does not permit tipping, I would say write a nice note. I treasure the thank you notes we receive. I know young staff might prefer money, but that doesn’t mean you have to go beyond your means to tip.
