We have 4 ladies here in my office, with 2 men. When we, the ladies, want to discuss/comment/schmooze, we do it mainly through chat, sometimes talking, and if men aren't there, then we do talk more.

So 1 workmate, she doesn't like chatting. So she always talks.
And worst part? She always WHISPERS!!!! we need to strain our ears to hear what she saying. We motion to her "type!" but she doesn't want.
And mayla she whispers cuz it's something she doesn't want the men or other ladies to hear, or its about our workmates or boss etc... - If other workmates are not there, or are on the phone, etc, she still whispers.
And it's not cuz she's shy, but she's the 'type' lol don't know how to explain....

Am I mean if I tell her to chat??

Just be honest. Tell her it's hard to hear what she's saying, and ask her to please type.

Pretend you don't hear and don't respond. Or keep saying What? What? Sorry? Come again? Repeat that? Sorry, did you say something? I can't hear you, can you please speak up?

Rinse and repeat.

Assume she had extra-hood hearing and sounds loud to herself, just as hearing-impaired people speak loudly so that they can hear themselves. I have relatives who speak very very quietly such that I, who have major hearing loss, can't hear them at all. I get tired of asking them to speak louder--which they seem incapable of doing--so eventually I just tune them out altogether.

I could’ve been the workmate your referencing lol. I’m not working for a while already so I don’t think your talking about me haha. I always spoke quietly when I knew the men are in the office next door (always open door)And my coworkers kept saying “huh?” I just didn’t feel comfortable with them hearing our chit chat all day long, most of the things we spoke about were none of their business anyways
