My 21 month old was a bit not himself all day. I woke up with a sore throat and congestion so I figured we have colds. He didn't eat well, was cranky on and off. Napped a bit early but slept fine.

Now he's been asleep for a few hours that I was out of the house for. My husband told me he has been crying on and off but not for long amounts of time. He just started again and I went in to him after a minute and he seemed asleep - eyes closed, not really reacting to me. I held him a few minutes and put him back in his crib, no complaint from him. Did not feel feverish, actually seemed cold so I covered him with a blanket and that seemed to make him more comfortable.

Is it fine? I want to go to sleep soon but feel funny that he keeps crying and I don't know why, and because it was such a weird seeming thing that he was asleep despite the crying. Anyone ever have this?

eta it's not just whimpering type crying. He sounds really sad. But quiets down after a minute or two each time.

My kids have done that, my toddler now does it every so often not even when she's sick. Sometimes I'll go in because she's crying but she's asleep
