Bedtime is total wacko. I have three close in age who go to sleep the same time. I wish I could have a warm and loving quiet bedtime routine, where they all get into beds with little lamps, read a book or listen to a story cd, and then say Shema and turn off the lights with a smile and a kiss. I don’t mind if they are hungry and want a snack or drink in bed. I just wish it was a happy and peaceful time of day.
But reality is that they all feed off each other and it’s so hard for anyone to settle down. I can not stagger bedtime for them and I can’t separate them into different rooms. I gotta work with all of that.
Any wise suggestions?!

Maybe give them each some special toy they can only play with at winding down time? and rotate it. this way everyone keeps to themselves

Sounds like they’re overtired. Start bedtime earlier

Magnesium lotion and magnesium chewable once they're in bed.
Diffuse sleepy essential oils
Story cd? Music? Calming meditations or soundtrack?
Contest/chart? Small prize under their pillow if they're quiet for them to find in the morning.

What does your current routine look like?
I always did bathtime first. Moisturizer, then pajamas. Hair brushing if necessary. Tooth brushing, then everyone on my lap for story time. Then it was shema and lullabies. Into bed (tuck in, kisses) and lights out. Those sharing a room did NOT remain quiet, but they generally stayed put. I did have one kid who routinely fell asleep to story cds.

Is there a magnesium lotion that you’ve used that you can recommend?
