NJ Railroad museum. They can ride a train.

There are lots of small family farms. .

Lakewood library has toys, kids like to play there and can pick out a book when done!

Chuck e cheers has a summer sale 50 bucks for full summer per kid. If you love nearby it's worth it.

We love anything with water

Digging for fossils in Big brook in Colts Neck- bring a sand sifter and little shovels. There's a good fossil guide posted at the trailhead that you can snap a picture of to try to identify what you find. Short hike down to the brook, and then you can hike in the water until you find a good spot to dig and sift. We've found shark teeth, squid pens, fossilized deer horns, shells. This is our absolute favorite summer activity.

Barneget Bay lighthouse- climb the lighthouse, walk on the breakers and watch the fishermen, if your willing to hike a bit you can walk about an hour until the end of the breakers and you'll be at a beautiful, almost always empty beach.

Cactus Island State Park - has a nice little natural History museum at the park entrance, pretty boardwalk hike over the marshes, really nice little spots to wade in the water further on in the park with beautiful views of boats in Barneget Bay.

Island Beach State Park - we go a lot during shoulder season (Pesach to start of July, start of school until after succos) when it's truly empty if your willing to walk away from the beach access points for 30 min or so. We love to fill our beach wagon full of wood from our backyard, bring shovels and marshmallows, and make bonfires on the beach at sundown. Even in the middle of the summer, if you go at 5-6pm, the place is pretty empty.

I love summer ☺️

I love this digging for fossils idea! Right up our alley! Bb lighthouse is on my list for this summer! Was closed for renovations last time we wanted to go.

To another poster- love the point pleasant train idea too!

Chuck E. Cheese is actually cheaper than that it’s a 2 month pass at $50 for 40 points I think and $80 for 100 (we did the $80) it’s only worth it if you’ll go a lot, we only used it twice so wasn’t worth it at the end for us. However it’s not necessary to buy a pass per kid, they can all share the same pass.

I've never heard of smithville! Looks amazing! My kids love browsing little shops as well which I see they have.

I've never been to manasquan beach. Online it just looks like a beach and you need beach pass and parking pass. Can you explain a bit more? Ty

Any place to rent bikes? Either regular or those big family bikes that we could all peddle together? Manasquan doesn’t do bike rentals anymore… keep the ideas coming please!

Love this thread!

Windward Beach Park is the best park hands down! Pack a picnic lunch and if you want to get wet you can bring bathing suits and sand toys and go down to the beach inlet.

Mantoloking park

Jakes Branch County Park

Jenkinsons Boardwalk
