Different types of poppies are grown for eating and for opium - drug producing, so eating poppyseed doesn’t make you high or do anything do you.

Opium isn't made from the seeds, so clean seeds from an opium poppy don't have much of an effect.

Opium is made from poppy seeds and all poppy seeds can potentially be turned into opium. However, you need a huge industrial amount of poppy seeds to make a just a small amount of opium. This makes it nearly impossible to DIY, thus the popularity of synthetic opiods.
